VCAL Band Concert
|
August 27, 2009
|
On the 25th August, the whole school went to the gym to watch a concert the school's music students were holding. The Vet Music band performed "Shadow of the Day" by Linkin Park and "Everything i'm not" by the Veronicas. The Multicultural band, led by Kristijan Jankovski, performed a light italian song called "Bella Ciao".
The singing groups, led by singing teacher Annie Rossinni, performed two songs: "Pokare-kare Ana (Maori love song)", and the ballad "Falling Softly", which is from the Irish movie "Once".
The concert was closed by the school's singing group Vevela led by Mr and Mrs Rossinni. The band name meams Hot in polynesian culture. They performed "Beat it" by Michael Jackson and "Hot n Cold" by Katy Perry.
It was a wonderful and high quality performance. Well done to all the students that performed on the day.

LNSC Ski Trip
|
August 26, 2009
|
|
Written by Mr. Lee
We huddled together in the dark cold morning of Friday 7th August at 4 in the morning, teachers armed with coffee, Year 10-12 students armed with V and Red Bull. All were waiting eagerly for the buses that would take us all the way to Mt Buller – a 3 hour trip. Yep, it was going to be an awesome LNSC Ski Day.
We arrived at the mountain at around just before 8; some students excited at seeing snow for the first time. After shuttle buses transported us all the way to the top of the mountain, we finally all made it to the top, cold, wet, and tired. We collected our hire equipment, skis or snowboard, and quickly made our way out to the beginner lessons we were already late for.
All feelings of being cold, wet and tired quickly dissipated, as we enjoyed a quick lesson on the basics before being released into the fray of the main ski area known as “Bourke Street”. Some beginners picked it up really quickly, and were even daring enough to go to the “Wombat” which was higher up and more difficult to ski/snowboard on. Others, such as yours truly, simply floundered, bounced and skidded all the way to the bottom of the hill. Then was foolish enough to go back up and try it again. And again.
Still, when it was time to pack up and head back home, we were still pretty much cold, wet, and tired, but also happy, with a sense of achievement and a soreness that we all instinctively knew would feel worse the next day (and how right we were!)
We all got back to LNSC at around 8:30pm, after a quick stop at Yea for dinner (or in my case, fish flavoured rubber – you could slap people with it - and chips). All in all, it was a fantastic day and a great experience for all those involved.
Special thanks to Ms. Shaw and Ms. Gannon for organising, and Mr. Chamberlain, Ms. Cerritelli, Mr. Seiler, Mr. Adams, Mr. Golding, Ms. Howlett, and Mr. Lee for supervising the day and making it all possible!

Written by Danny Chralambous (Captain) 7A
Our Lalor North Secondary College year 7 boys played for our school soccer team.
We made it through district and went to the zones. In zones we lost all our games but the boys had fun. We represented our school and we did a pretty good job of it. Well done to all the boys and great job!
