Art 1 - 2D Art - Drawing, Painting and Printmaking
Art 1 develops students’ skills in using various methods and techniques that are used in making two-dimensional art works. Students will further examine the elements and principles of design in producing drawings, painting and prints. Students will also research and analyse various terms used in art and examine various artists and cultures. Students will be expected to attend an excursion to an Art Gallery.
Art 2 - 3D Art - Sculpture
Art 2 develops students’ skills in using materials and techniques that are used in making three-dimensional art works. Students will further examine the elements and principles of design in producing three-dimensional art works using ceramic and sculpture techniques. Students will also explore, research and analyse various terminology used in art and examine various artists and cultures. Students will be expected to attend an excursion to an Art Gallery.
Visual Communication and Design 1 -
Environmental, Information and Product Design
Students develop an understanding of the way in which a designer works to a design brief to satisfy the visual communication needs of a client.
Environmental
Architectural design, interior design, landscape design, set design – using two and three dimensional drawing systems.
Information
Logos, symbols, illustration, package design, book covers.
Product Design
Fashion design, sports uniforms, furniture design, electronic objects,
Industrial design.
A range of materials, methods and media may be used such as drawing, (both freehand and instrumental), printmaking, collage, painting, pastels, pencils and construction (three dimensional model making).
Visual Communication and Design 2 -
Computer Based Design
Students develop an understanding of the way in which a designer works to a design brief to satisfy the visual communication needs of a client. Students will be introduced to computer graphics programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver. Students will also use digital photography to generate images and will produce full colour printouts on a laser printer. Students may create designs for Nightclub Flyers, advertisements, posters, CD or video game covers, theme park passes and show bags.
