Media Studies
Media Studies is introduced as an elective in year 10. Students undertake theory and practice in areas such as representation, codes and conventions, ethics, media influence, genre, and media production, using advertising and movie making as a focus point.
Photography
This unit builds on the skills developed in Photography at Year 9. Advanced Photography will continue to focus on black and white photography with an emphasis on idea development and composition. Students will experiment with a variety of special effects and different forms of presentation and exhibition of prints. Students will be expected to attend a Photography excursion.
Journalism
Wanted: Searchers for the truth, writers of personal journeys, investigators of minds. We are looking for students to occupy spaces in this exciting course, keen to discover forms of journalism such as print, television and radio. You will learn what a journalist needs to know before they write, such as the differences between features and news reports, biases, ethical issues, and language analysis. We will provide you the opportunity to create ICT to present your work using PowerPoint, digital cameras/video and portfolios. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively and independently. So, do you have what it takes to lead the front page?
